How to Handle Fear In All the Chaos

How to Handle Fear In All the Chaos

How to Handle Fear In All the Chaos

Fear is the New Pandemic

In these times of uncertainty, fear is rife. It’s as if our once easy-going community members have grown horns and turned into something we don’t recognize. These are certainly the worst of times for everyone. Yet most people will only get a mild case of COVID-19 and 98% will survive and thrive.

I’ve certainly never experienced a worldwide pandemonium such as this in my lifetime and I hope never to again. But it’s not the COVID-19 I’m talking about. The real pandemic is fear. Fear turns once rational human beings into weapons of unknown destruction, to themselves and others. Fear has been killing people for centuries.

Becoming A Spin-Doctor

You’re probably spending a lot of time at home now and even though you try not to watch the news, it’s difficult to avoid reports which display this fear; its viral on all streams of social media. Even friends and family have succumbed to the frenzy. It seems like it’s the only subject available right now.

So it’s up to you to become the spin-doctor and change the subject. If there are reports of airport closures, notice the ones that are open. If there are hospitals filling, introduce the ones in Wuhan that are being dismantled because they’re no longer needed. When this is the worse thing in the world, point out that pollution has dropped in countries that are no longer flying, such as China and Italy. Fear brings out the worst in people, but crises can bring out the very best in people.

Crises Can Bring Out The Best in People

The schools may be closed but many across the USA are using them as temporary kitchens to feed those in need. There is always an opportunity to shine in times of chaos. Why would you want to? Because it not only helps the people around you to feel better, but it will benefit you. It’s not other’s you need to change, because you can’t. You only need to get on top of your own fear and turn that fear in the direction of freedom.

Your life is never about what happens, it is and will always be about how you handle what happens. And if you find yourself in isolation, then it’s a wonderful time to develop new patterns. Ones that set you up for joy and success. I wrote an article recently on setting up your day so this is a great time to start. Your pattern of life has already been interrupted and it may never be the same again, so now is a great time to take up mindfulness, meditation, nature walks and all those things you put off previously.

Continued below

The things that are good for your well-being, that cost nothing and help you connect to who you really are. It will uncover that valuable small space amongst the chaos.

Fear will always be a part of life

Fear will always be a part of humanity but we don’t have to let it stay like an old friend. Fear keeps company with uncertainty, isolation, depression, misunderstanding, and hopelessness. It brings out the worst of humanity and when we are in this space, all we can see is more of the same. It feels like it’s never going to end. It’s a little like standing in a deep hole and looking outward. All you’re going to see is more of the same hole.

Freedom is in the same space as love, hopefulness, encouragement, opportunity, inspiration, joy and appreciation. It’s the very best of humanity. When you stand in this space you feel sure and powerful and have much to give yourself, your family and everyone who connects with you. You become a beacon of light and inspiration.

The same situation is going on around you but you see it differently. Whenever there is the worst of times, there is also the best of times. The worst of times is shrouded in darkness and the best of times is presented when you wear the night vision goggles. Your night-vision goggles are the feelings of hope and encouragement.  We all have the opportunity to see the glass-half-empty or the glass as half-full. There is no right and wrong, it is our perception that makes it so.

Listening to your Inner Guidance

I remember traveling to see my parents just last year. They live 4 hours away. I was driving with my husband Allan and my 16-year-old son Jamieson. There was only one highway and mostly only one lane, so traffic is unpredictable. Teenagers never like getting up early but I insisted that we leave by 7 am that Friday morning. It was stuck in my head and so I made sure we did, despite Jamieson’s protests. Our trip was enjoyable and on the way back a few days later, we called into a country coffee shop. There on the counter was a local newspaper with the headlines. ‘Bruce Highway closed both ways for 6 hours after tanker crash’. The day it happened was the day we were traveling. It was Friday morning. The time of the accident was about 10 minutes after we had passed through that very location. Had we have left later we would have had a very long wait or we could have even been in the accident.

Learn to Read the Inner Signs

The moral of the story is that you can’t see the bigger picture. You don’t know what it is, so you need to be ready to read the signs. These are the inner signs and you can’t see them when you are standing in the darkness in fear. You need the night-vision goggles of hope and encouragement, to shed some light.

Below, the Mood Mastery Quickstart offers a PDF for you to understand your own inner signs. We call this your Mood Barometer as it’s your inner guidance system. Also included in the PDF is a Mood Map so you can plot your path from fear all the way to freedom.

Using Your Mood Barometer To Bridge The Gap

Using Your Mood Barometer To Bridge The Gap

Using Your Mood Barometer To Bridge The Gap

Mood Barometer is Your Key to Staying on Track

Sometimes we find ourselves lost and way off-track and we wonder how this happened so suddenly. Yesterday we were ok and today, we’re lost. Our Mood Barometer is key to our understanding.

Being on track is rather like walking a well marked path through a familiar forest. It’s bright and breezy, and easy to follow. It’s an enjoyable experience. We know we’re on track because our mood is also bright and breezy. Life is exciting, we have a sense of freedom and inspiration flows.

Just like any path there are twists and turns, so how do we know when we are still on our path or not? That’s the job of our Mood Barometer.

Stages of Feeling Lost Without a Mood Barometer

Often, our mind will wander and our mood will take a turn. We still feel ok but inspiration is elusive and things aren’t quite working the way we’d like them to. We’re not quite sure what’s happening. This is when we’ve wandered off that forest path just a little without realising it.  When this occurs, many moods can set in, such as frustration.

Then we don’t know why things aren’t working and they just seem to get worse. This is a path through the forest that we are actually forging ourselves. It’s no longer paved and illuminated. But still, we don’t realise we’re off the path, eventhough we maybe discouraged. It’s probably somebody else’s fault anyway.

We hit rock bottom when fear and depression comes from being lost in an unknown forest for a long time. We aren’t able to recognise where we are or how we even got there. The only things that we can see are more of the same. More thick forest, more thoughts of things that aren’t working. We are well and truly lost.

Reading Your Own Mood Barometer

Most people don’t understand there’s a transition from one stage to the next. But, just like the forest that changes vegetation and light, we have a Mood Barometer that gives us indicators. Indicators of wandering off the path could be feelings of contentment or boredom. But they’re easy to ignore. These moods indicate that we should readjust our mood to get back on the well lit, familiar path of joy and excitement. And when we don’t, we wander further and further off track, until we can’t even recognise where we are or how we got there.

Role of Your Mood Barometer

It’s always salvageable but there’s a bridge from where we are to where we want to be and it needs to be traversed. We can’t make one giant leap and we need to find our way back to the path, so our thoughts and our moods are what we use to traverse the bridge. We feel our way back to the path.

Now it may seem as though the distance between the well-lit path and completely lost are very close, but it’s not. There are always indicators along the way. This is the job of our Mood Barometer, to indicate to us where we are located at any given time. When we’re aware of our moods, it becomes easier to readjust, well before we get lost.

Our Mood Barometer indicates where we are in relation to where we want to go. The well-lit path of joy and inspiration represents where we want to be and being lost in a strange forest represents fear and powerlessness, the furtherest point away. There are mood indicators every step of the way like signposts, to warn us of the direction we’re traveling. Most times, we ignore these signs.

Outside Influences on Your Mood

The reason our mood changes so rapidly is mostly because of the influence we give to outside factors. That’s other people, the response to our environment and opinions towards what’s happening in our lives.

For instance, if work isn’t a good environment, then it’s easy to focus on what’s going wrong. When this happens, our mood follows and maybe frustration is the mood that occurs. This creates a habit of feeling frustrated every time we think about work. This frustration flows through every part of our lives, until everything is frustrating. The only thing that appears before us is more frustration.

This wasn’t a leap from inspiration to frustration, it was a subconscious meandering into the mood of frustration until frustration became the dominant mood. From there it’s easy to keep traveling in the direction our Mood Barometer indicates is well away from our path. Through disappointment, doubt, worry, blame and discouragement.  Once we’re there, it’s like trying to forge a path into the unknown. It’s difficult. That’s when life feels difficult and lonely.

We are never alone and we are never so lost that we can’t find our way back on track. All it takes is understanding our Mood Barometer and which way our moods are indicating. Closer to our path or further away. When we’re feeling discouraged and we want to feel great, our Mood Barometer is indicating that there’s a gap because it doesn’t feel good. Closing that gap by building a bridge is the best tool we can have in our Life Tool Box.

mood bridge

Developing the Tools for a Bridge

To develop this, we first need an Awareness.

  • An awareness of how we’re feeling and an awareness of what we’re thinking.

We don’t need to monitor our thoughts all day, but when we find ourselves smiling, our Mood Barometer is indicating we’re moving towards our path and when we find ourselves frowning, we’re thinking thoughts that are moving us away from that path.

  • The second thing we need is to Interrupt the pattern of thoughts.

Sometimes we can get so good at thinking rubbish, that the thoughts come thick and fast. These are thoughts that don’t support us, but they’re running rampant. There’s no time to even find something better to think about. That’s when we need an interrupter. There are many methods of doing this. Remember when you were little and someone would tell you something you didn’t want to hear, you would makes noises not to hear them. Well, that’s an interrupter. It stops the mind from taking that same path it’s been going along.

  • The next piece is to consciously look for something Neutral to focus on.

This could be the weather, nature, a bird, even a song. This is creating some space and stopping the momentum.

  • When you begin to feel some relief, it’s time for the next step. Encouraging Self-Talk.

We’ve interrupted the pattern. Now it’s time to look for something that our Mood Barometer indicates feels a little better. That comes from our self-talk. Rather than allowing our thoughts to wander, because we haven’t created a new focus yet, consciously choose thoughts that feel better and better. But don’t leap so far that they’re unbelievable.

Use Encouraging Self-Talk to move in the direction of the illuminated path as a neutral space still exists. Your Mood Barometer will guide you. This isn’t rocket science, it’s natural and something we were all born with.

I’ll record a video so that you can see how to use your self-talk to improve your mood.

Improving Your Default Mood

But don’t stop there. We all have a moods are indicating and it’s good to understand what yours may be. For many years, my default mood was Worry. I would worry about everything and that seemed normal. Then I moved my default mood up the map to Boredom. That was where I spent a lot of my time. Now my default mood is more around Enthusiasm and Eagerness. So make sure your default mood is not so far down the Mood Map that as soon as you move in direction, you’re feeling blame or anger. We’re more likely to notice the signs we’re getting lost, if our default mood is closer to our path.

In summary, the tool you’re looking for is a bridge. The steps along that bridge are:

  • Awareness,
  • Interruption,
  • Neutralising,
  • Encouraging Self-Talk.

Remember the Rules

There are two warnings.

  1. Don’t try huge leaps. You’ll end up in the river if you try and jump over the bridge.
  2. You can’t stop on the bridge because you’ll go backward. Those old thoughts still have momentum and you haven’t replaced the momentum with something better yet.

Practice, that’s all it takes. Then, when you get lost and you will from time to time, you have the tools to traverse the bridge and move towards your path.

But start at the beginning because, until you interrupt that pattern, you can’t even see that there is a bridge.

How to Create your Best Life

Just as your Mood Barometer translates emotions, you were also born with an internal Mood Map. This is a guide for creating your best life through consciously choosing your emotions. The reason your emotions are important is because your Mood creates your Reality. Your reality is what you are living now.

This internal Mood Map indicates the direction in which you are emotionally traveling. This Mood Map has been a guiding path all your life, whether you were aware of it or not.

Internal Guidepost

When you move in a direction that is in alignment with your Higher Self who holds the light for you, your emotions are uplifting. This is your natural state of being. If you move you in a direction that is not in alignment with your Higher Self you feel emotions of fear, anger, depression, disappointment, or blame. This is supposed to feel uncomfortable. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t change it.

So when you experienced these emotions at any time in your life, you were witnessing your Mood Map in motion. Unlike the GPS in your car, it does not have to be plugged in or given directions, as it’s always working to guide you towards your Source Energy. You came from Source and you are always connected to Source. Just as the moon influences the tides, so too does Source give indicators of your direction.

You can recognize some of the guideposts easily, as, ‘fear’ or ‘love.’ Most you probably don’t recognize, but understanding your Mood Map is an opportunity to consciously choose your emotions and choose a new reality.

Reason For A Mood Map

You were born with a Mood Map to guide you on your journey of life. The Map itself helps you to see where you are in relation to where you want to be and the only place you ever want to be, is connected. The mood of joy, fun, laughter and enthusiasm are naturally where you want to be as this is your connection. It is the only mood that will harmonize with your desires.

The importance of understanding your Mood Map is to move through life with fun and joy, knowing that every decision you make is the right one at this time. It’s beginning to trust your inner guidance. The guidance that shows you how to notice how one decision feels over another.

Mood Map

There are Always Two Choices

  1. This one that feels better or
  2. That one that doesn’t

So when you look at a choice you have, if one feels better, it’s higher on the mood map than the other then you know it’s the best choice to make as it’s taking you in the direction of your dreams.

It’s the emotional weight that helps you make any decision and if there’s no clear choice, then either the decision doesn’t matter a lot. It’s not that important to you, so either choice is fine, or maybe you shouldn’t be making a decision at all just yet because you don’t have enough information.

You Choose Your Mood

You are the only person who gets to choose your mood. Since your mood is a product of your dominant emotion, you do have control over changing what you don’t want. Your mood is actually a manifestation of your thoughts, so if you aren’t happy with your mood, take heed and change your thoughts now.

It doesn’t work to blame others for your mood, even if they had an influence. In the end you are the person who chooses your thoughts and you also reap the consequences of those thoughts.

No one is ever to blame for how you feel. Therefore, nobody can take your power away from you. When you buy into someone elses drama, opinions and emotion, you are handing your power over to another.

Your emotions are an indicator of how you are traveling on your Mood Map in relation to where you are going. Where you are standing now and what has happened in the past has no bearing on your future unless you allow it to do so.

Everything you want in life is aligned with Joy, Love, Compassion, Freedom and Inspiration. Your only job is to move your thoughts to things that feel better and better and practice moving your emotions higher and higher on the Mood Map.

Emotional Dimension

Your Emotions are the Gateway to Communication with your Higher Self

Your emotions are your connection with the Universe and with your Higher Self.

Just as your mood is the center of your Universe. It creates the experiences that unfold as your life. So, your reality is essentially designed by your emotions. Emotions become your guiding light down the path of life. They help you understand why things happen the way they do, and they show you the direction in which you are traveling.

Blocking Emotions

Many people have learned to block their emotions early in life. There are many reasons that lead to the suppression of emotions, and all of them are associated with pain. It is a natural part of life to feel your way in your own life and interpret what is going on around you into emotions. In this way, you can feel fear and it can warn you of danger. You can also feel love and it will guide your path in the direction of joy.

Getting through life without noticing your emotions seems to be common, as many have felt ‘burnt’ by wearing their heart on their sleeve, so they prefer their mind to be their life guide. But the mind is fickle and influenced by past experiences and what it can see. It is influenced by current reality. However, emotions can’t be blocked completely, only dulled.

When you start being aware of how you are feeling and use these emotions as your guide, they become stronger. It is possible to attune yourself to being guided by emotions in such a way that even a subtle change can be noticed and lead quickly to a change in your mood. The only thing in life you have any control over is your own mood. You are the sole owner of your emotions and you are the person who controls your moods.

Aquarius – The Age Of Emotions

This world moved into the Age of Aquarius in the year 2000, and according to the ancient science of Numerology, the Age of Aquarius is the age of emotions, of feeling and of co-creating with the people around us. Each person is born with a unique set of numbers that are the result of adding their birth date and names together. There are nine single numbers and many combinations that are influenced by the mental, emotional and physical planes. During the last century, the 1900s, every person born had at least one number on the mental plane, signified by the number nine, and this gave many people a mental learning capacity.

During not only the next century, but the next millennium, only a few children will be born with numbers on the mental plane but all will have numbers on the emotional plane which is where the number two is situated. As the millennium progresses, it will become obvious in schools, that teaching children via their mental capacities will not be as effective as teaching them through their emotions. As every child born in this millennium has numbers on the emotional plane, it indicates they connect to others through emotions much more readily than past eras.

These are the adults of the future. They are the business people, the inventors and entrepreneurs; they are the sales people, the sportsmen and the soldiers. They are the parents of the future, and they will find much value in connecting with their own emotions, as communication through emotions is the path of understanding and compassion.

What Is A Mood Map?

Moods are an indicator of the emotion you are projecting for the world to see. A sad mood is but a glimmer of hope and a light of sadness, and a happy mood is a beacon that shines brightly in the darkness.

A Mood Map shows how you are traveling along your emotional path. I was sitting at a railroad station a few years back. This was a country station with no guard or ticket-box attendant. A teenage boy was also seated waiting for the train. I asked him where he was going, and he told me. Then I asked him if he knew how to read the railway schedule but he didn’t, so he wasn’t sure which train to catch. The schedule was behind him, so we used the time we were waiting for our train to familiarize him with the map. I remembered being his age once, lost in a big city with a map I didn’t know how to read. Nobody I asked knew either. It was a harrowing experience, and made me realize you can have a map but it’s useless, unless you know how to read it.

Reading Your Map

It would be to your advantage if you were to learn how to read your Emotional Mood Map. So, here goes. When your mood is happy, you are in the company of your Higher Self. When it’s not so chirpy, you have strayed a little further away. Taking an emotional detour to somewhere other than the place that is desired is OK. Surprisingly, being somewhere other than where you thought you wanted to be isn’t wrong at all, and nowhere is so far away that you can’t go back and find your desired track again. However, when your Mood Map is familiar, you have the advantage of always knowing where you are traveling. Then, if you find yourself off track somewhere, the error is easily corrected.

Knowing your path can be the difference between being afraid and being confident about where you are going.

Any pain felt by being off-track is only ever the distance between what you are feeling and what your Higher Self is feeling. If what you are feeling is a long way from what your Higher Self feels, then there is intense emotional discomfort. And when you experience discomfort, you get a clearer idea of what you want. When the emotion is a mild discomfort, the request for fulfillment is a whisper, but when you feel abject poverty the request for abundance becomes louder within you.

But remember! There is never a distance so far away from Source Energy that you can’t rejoin the path of your desires. Moods are merely indicators of the direction in which you are traveling, so when the path you walk down feels frustrating, this is your emotional indicator telling you to change paths by changing your mood.
