How to get a Glass-Half-Full Winning Attitude, For Life

How to get a Glass-Half-Full Winning Attitude, For Life

How to get a Glass-Half-Full Winning Attitude, For Life

Are you a Glass-Half-Full or a Glass-Half-Empty type of Person?

In other words, when an opportunity presents do you tell yourself all the reasons why it’s not the right opportunity and therefore undermine yourself, or do you grab that opportunity with both hands? When the glass is half full, you can imagine the rest. It fills itself in your mind’s eye. You can taste the contents and imagine how you’ll feel. It’s an uplifting experience.

When the cup is half-empty, you’re afraid of making a decision or taking the next step because you’re unsure it’s the right one. We’ve all been there. At some time in all our lives, we’ve seen the cup as half empty. Even me. That’s because it’s determined by whether you’re moving up the mood map or on your way down. When you see life as though it’s working for you and you know things are always working out for you, then you’re having a glass-half-full type of experience. It’s filled with hope and optimism. But when things haven’t been working the way you want them to and you’ve been floundering around the bottom half of the mood map, then you’re having a glass-half-empty experience.

If You Had A Million Dollars Would You Be Glass-Half-Full?

For instance, if you had a million dollars sitting in your bank account you might feel like you have freedom and life was easy. However, that’s because most people don’t have that much sitting in the bank, so it would give them a lot of relief. But what if you’re looking from a perspective of starting with 10 million dollars and now you’re down to 1 million. That same one million dollars might have you feeling very afraid because you’re on a downward trajectory and very likely to run out if something drastic doesn’t occur. I can even feel that as I speak. It’s how I used to feel when I watched my money on the Stockmarket. So the momentum of the mood you’re coming from at this moment, determines how you feel about everything.

But nothing’s ever by chance. You don’t get a glass-half-empty attitude without practicing things not working out, whether you mean to or not. It probably began at an early age.

Continued below

We’re all Born with a Glass-Half-Full Attitude

Just look at any young child to see the optimism in their eyes. They believe they can be astronauts and ballerinas, and that anything is possible. They keep this outlook until somebody helps them change it. Whether it’s their parents telling them they can’t be, do or have something, or the children in the playground at school that mock their enthusiasm and zest for life. No matter where it comes from, eventually you’ll be brought up understanding that things happen that you have no control over and they’re not necessarily all good. How much pain we feel with these knocks, determines how sensitive our defenses become in the future.

If we’ve been sensitive and felt a lot of pain (and I’m in that category), we develop a glass is half-empty attitude. Not because we want it to be true, but it seems less painful to be right than have high expectations and be wrong. The trouble is, that the more you notice what isn’t working, the more that isn’t working. You can always find evidence of what you’re looking for. It has nothing to do with truth or reality.

So I don’t believe there are glass-half-empty people. There are those who have practiced the glass half empty over and over again. There are others that experience it sometimes and the glass-half-full other times. And there are people who have practiced a glass-half-full attitude so that this becomes their default.

Glass-Half-Full trumps every time

This is why I am writing this now. I want you to know you have a choice whether the glass in your life is half-empty or half-full. Believe me, half-full trumps half-empty anytime. Does that mean all your decisions work out? That opportunities knock again and again? A half-full attitude means you are moving in the direction of your dreams, that you are living an authentic life. Let go of the outcome and you’ll love how all your decisions unfold. Especially when you understand that every choice you make, leads to the next and the next. Life is about the life energy that flows through you, not about making the ‘right’ choices. So get excited, make a decision and then align with that decision by not doubting yourself.

The ultimate job or career choice never comes when you go searching. You get there by making one choice that is right for you and then another. When a female executive of a multi-national company was asked if she had always had her sights set on CEO, she replied that she only ever aimed for the next position and then the next. So you don’t need to be able to see 10 years into the future to live your dreams. You begin with the next choice and then the next. It makes life so much simpler.

To know which Choice is right for You, it helps to Master your Mood

Doubt is your first indicator of whether you should or shouldn’t do something. Whether you should or shouldn’t buy that course. Whether you should or shouldn’t trust somebody. In fact, doubt is your indicator that you shouldn’t. These are your first instincts and they’re also the early warning signs of guidance. Doubt will help you to understand whether that decision is the next step or not. It may be the next step eventually, but if you have doubt then don’t do it. Now you may get excited about it later on and then that’s your indicator that it’s the right step for you at that time.

But if in doubt, don’t.

Doubt is your indicator that you aren’t aligned with the decision you’re making

So the next step is to move your mood up the map to feeling great. Find your feel great object and focus on it. When you feel that amazing mood of joy and love wash over you, then bring that subject of doubt back in. It could be buying the course everyone’s talking about. This is a space where you gain more clarity. However, if you still have doubts when perusing from this perspective, then don’t. It’s not right for you at this time. The shoe just doesn’t fit.

Not everything is right for everybody. There isn’t one shoe that fits every foot. Just because a lot of people are doing it, doesn’t make it right for you.

For you to find the next step along the path of your dreams, you need to be in the same space as the solution. Doubt is the same space as the problem and fun, joy and happiness are the same space as the solution.

Doubt is the Glass-Half-Empty and Joy is the Glass-Half-Full

To clear out the closet of despair and despondency or doubt and uncertainty, the next step is always to align with the solution. Any solution for any perceived problem. The only action you need to take is within your own head. To move your mindset to “How can I?” rather than “I don’t think it will work”.

From asking “where is my ideal opportunity” to “what step do I take next”?

This one or that. Which step? One or the other. Aligning with the problem or the solution. Remaining in doubt or moving to joy. Each has their own path. And no amount of misaligned action will provide you with the results you’re looking for. Your action is only to feel great.

So decide whether you want your attitude to be glass-half-empty or glass half-full. Because either will determine your path forward. So which one do you want to share your journey with?

Because you deserve to feel great.

7 Keys to Authenticity in your Business

7 Keys to Authenticity in your Business

7 Keys to Authenticity in your Business

What creates Business Authenticity? You do.

Have you ever visited a website and it hits you in the face because it’s really busy-looking? There are flashy things and ads popping up at you everywhere, colors are flashing, stop signs, the whole works. There is so much jumping out at you from the page that you just recoil and think OMG, It feels really spammy. Like if you clicked on it you would catch something nasty.

Then there are others that are comfortable and welcoming. You can relate to where they’re coming from. It’s like breathing in fresh air for the first time in a long time. And you want to browse and look around.

A website is like a painting. You’re an artist and your canvas is your website. It presents you to the people. And just like a painting, you can tell a lot about people by their website.

Your Website Represents Your Authenticity

Think of it like going into a dress shop. Would you go into a store that was dirty, had sales people hovering over you and flashing signs everywhere, then pay a premium price for dodgy labels? Of course not. You’d just leave. Your online experience shouldn’t be any different. It’s the face of your company and you are it. Even if somebody else has designed the site, it still reflects you. The feel of your business, the values and your authenticity. All are portrayed by the very first visit.

Authenticity isn’t something that’s flashy. You can’t pretend it and can’t be bought. It’s a reflection of how you feel. You don’t have to be talked into it or cajoled into parting with a lot of money. In fact, if somebody tries to convince you that they’re honest, then you know they aren’t. When someone has to announce to the world that they’re trustworthy then they probably aren’t. So for someone to tell you they’re authentic, chances are, they’re not.

It Shows how much a Business Cares

Authenticity is actually obvious. Because it’s a display of someone’s honesty and integrity. It shows you how genuine they are and how much they care. And just like meeting somebody creepy sends you running a mile, so should creepy websites. They’re the face of their owners. So they’re the really obvious ones,

Continued below

How to Discern Authenticity from Pretense

But some people have a little more challenge discerning the fake genuine-looking sites. These are the fancy sites that look expensive and promise you the world. They take you in because they’re offering so much you think you may need someday. So how do you know whether they’re fake or not?

Well, it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is if they’re aligned with your core values. Whether they’re right for you or not.

For that, you need to understand your moods because they’re the inner communication system that feeds you the information.

How do you do this? There are keys:

  1. Notice how you’re feeling when on the site – Are you happy to stay or do you have the urge to leave?
  2. ‘The more you look around the better you feel’ – If that statement’s True you stay, False you leave
  3. You get excited about the offers – It’s right for me if I’m excited or it’s not right for me if I’m not

So what are core values? They’re the fundamental beliefs you hold that help you determine what is right and what is wrong. Companies have them too.

Are they Aligned with your Core Values?

You can actually feel whether a site is aligned with your core values. Not by what it says but by how you feel about being there.

It only takes 3 questions to determine:

  1. Is there a nurturing quality – does it sound like they care about you?
  2. Is your transformation more important to them than your pain points? Or are they just taking advantage of your vulnerability?
  3. Do you feel comfortable with making a decision to buy? Or is there doubt?

If in doubt, don’t. Because that doubt is your mood letting you know that this product or service isn’t aligned with you. This means if you buy, there’s a high chance you’ll regret it. It doesn’t matter how good the product is or if thousands of others have already bought, your guidance system is set up to let you know what’s right for you.

A Foolproof Inner System

When you understand and practice using your moods as guidance, then you’ll have a foolproof inner system for making better choices. They’re the ones that take you in the direction of your dreams. And you can use this system for anything and everything in your life. No longer will you be reliant on ill-informed people to advise you through advertisements or the Government to regulate. You have taken the power back into your own hands to make a decision that’s best for you.

For instance, my site reflects me. I’ve used colors I feel comfortable with and language that inspires me. Before working with me, I offer a 20-minute free coaching call. This isn’t a sales pitch, it’s an introduction for both of us to find out if we’re a match for getting the maximum results. It’s whether our core values match or not. It works both ways. It shows I care and it also helps me to work with those who I can be the most benefit to. Because I also understand that not every client matches my values, which means they won’t get their best results.

7 Keys for an Authentic Website

If you’d like to make your website reflect the very best of you, then I’ve put together 7 Keys for making your Website Authentic:

  1. Is it a good place to be? My website is a place I’m happy to visit and spend time, just to hang out. I’m usually tweaking or changing something. To me it’s like moving furniture around in my home. It gives a new look and a fresh feel.
  2. Keep it up to date and fresh. You want to put your best foot forward because first impressions count. It’s like keeping your office windows clean and the doorway free of rubbish to make it appealing for people to step in the door.
  3. Cohesion. You spend a lot of time choosing paint and furnishings for a bricks and mortar office, so take the time to choose colors that represent the personality of you and your business. Don’t underestimate the power of purpose. Put in quality content that represents upmarket furniture in an office so that people can instantly have a quality experience.
  4. It’s never finished. Just like an artist, you’re never finished, so keep tweaking. See it as your office and a place to invite people to share what you have to offer.
  5. Keep it interesting. Change the photos, some of the content and of course the front page. This is no different to changing the stock in a bricks and mortar store. If you want people to return, give them something that’s a little different.
  6. Be consistent. Make the tone of your whole site similar. With colors and fonts. You would use the same fonts on all the signs in your store to give them some uniformity, so do the same on your site. And you don’t need to be selling products to do this.
  7. Feel Great. This is the most important step of all, because it’s you that comes through your site. It’s you the people fall in love with and it’s you they are going to trust and do business with. So take time to master your mood and feel great, because it really shines through your website.

It’s the First Step to Representing your Authenticity Online

So apart from correcting spelling and grammar errors, which even the so-called best sites seem to display, you’re taking the first step to represent who you are on the internet. Congratulations! It’s no easy feat to stand out with authenticity in an increasingly spammy world. However, I really feel it will become easier to tell authentic websites apart from the hype and B…s… ones in the future as people become numb to the overselling and broken promises of fortune hunters. Already, I witness the unrest of the people amongst the giants’ launches, that scoff at the non-delivery of high promises.

There is power in your presence and there is certainly a place for authenticity. In fact, I think the bigger that companies become, the more that smaller, boutique, authentic businesses will stand out. And I’m on a mission to teach people how to read their own inner guidance so they can tell the difference.

So do what you love and do it really, really well.

7 Benefits of Mastering Your Mood

7 Benefits of Mastering Your Mood

Mastering Your Mood is Important for Balance.

It’s such a simple concept and yet it makes a huge difference in your life.  Moods aren’t just an emotion that flutter by unnoticed.  Like our thoughts, they’re a tangible manifestation of how we feel.

Now you might think that your mood is temporary and therefore not concerning.  But I’m here to let you know that not only should you be concerned about your mood, but you should begin to change them. To do this you need to begin to notice your mood.

We Take Our Moods For Granted But Did You Know That:

Your Mood Is The Key To Changing Your Mindset?

It’s your mood which influences much more in your life than a few fleeting moments during the day. You are never having, ‘just a mood’, it’s actually more of a manifestation. But you get to decide what you want to manifest and you do this, by taking control of your mood.

Did you know, your mood is actually the influence behind:

  1. Your Perspective – How you see life
  2. Leadership – Your interactions with others
  3. Success – How much you achieve in your life and how much money you attract
  4. Harmony – Your inner peace and well-being
  5. Health – how well you harmonize with the Physical Dimension
  6. Relationships you experience with friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances and what influence they have
  7. Your FUTURE! What comes next.

That’s just about everything.

These are actually benefits because when you understand how your mood works and begin to direct it in a way that is inspiring and uplifting, the influence in these areas of your life is heightened. They unfold effortlessly.

The reason most people aren’t aware of the impact their mood has on every area of their lives, is that we’re used to looking for outside influences. So when thinks go wrong, we immediately look for someone or something to blame. Whether it’s what somebody did or even what you heard on the news broadcast.

The Great News Is That You Can Master Your Mood

Therefore take control of your life and begin to create a future you love. No matter what that looks like or where you’re standing now.

The only reason life sucks at times, is because you haven’t learned the magic of mastering your mood, so you haven’t yet begun to stand in the power of your own mood manifestations.

Mastering Your Mood Redesigns Your Future

We really do have an amazing amount of influence in how our future unfolds. Yet, most people have no idea that the mood they’re bobbing around in today is creating their tomorrows. But it’s never too late.

We also have a purpose that grows as we do. You don’t just have one purpose in life that remains until you die. But that’s another story.

When we decide to use our Inner Mood Barometer to gauge how we’re traveling in life and in which direction we’re going, it’s easy to redirect your own path back to where you want to be. And this is what what mastery is about. Becoming so good at noticing the subtle changes in your moods and redirecting them to feel better and better. It’s the place where life flows and dreams become real.

Deliberate Manifestations

We all manifest constantly. But it’s the magical manifestations that we want more of. They’re the unfolding of life in such a deliberate way that people look at you and call you lucky. They wonder how you get things to fall into place so easily. And it is easy. It’s effortless. Because you’re managing your mood, so there’s no longer the need to control everything outside of you, ever.

An Inspiring Future

If you want a future that is beyond your wildest dreams, then mastering your mood is not a matter of if you do it, it’s only a matter of when. There is nobody who is successful and happy in life that hasn’t learned how to master their mood and has had fun doing it.

10 Great Reasons to Journal Once a Day

10 Great Reasons to Journal Once a Day

10 Great Reasons to Journal Once a Day

Sweep away the debris of the day.

In just 10 minutes, before you go to sleep in the evening, you can journal to set yourself up for success.

No matter how you felt during the day, or what your mood by the end, journaling offers an avenue of clearing the soul.

Set Yourself Up For Success

Prepare yourself for success by clearing the past and opening up to the opportunities to come.

Journaling offers these benefits:

1. Consistency. When you’re consistent about anything, you’re developing a pattern and journaling is an excellent pattern to develop as it helps you stay on target and presses the reset button for the following day.

2. Revision. Journaling is about revising the day. Not the situations, but your moods and emotions. How you handled yourself and how much you’ve appreciated the experience.

3. Appreciation is the path of connection. When you are connected to your higher self or who you truly are, then you are on track and in the zone. Sleep is encouraged and dreams are much more peaceful.

4. Clarifying. If the day has not been something to appreciate, journaling gives you the opportunity to clarify your thoughts. Write your moods and how you felt, then look for something to appreciate. It will help you gain clarity in moving forward.

5. Cementing your Thoughts. When you have appreciated your day and are in an uplifting mood because of the day, or just from journaling, this is the time that new thoughts and opportunities pour forth. Writing down these inspirations is the way to cement your thoughts for the next day.

6. Refining your direction. Sometimes there is the opportunity for change. Journaling your moods helps you relax so that you can gain clarity on your choices and what feels like the next step.

7. Communication. This is the time we communicate with our Higher Selves. The all knowing, bigger picture dudes who hang around to help us find our feet and give us clarity. Our moods are the communication with our Higher Selves and its a great time to hand over any problems of questions with the expectation of clarity.

8. Support. I’m talking about feeling supported. When you connect with your Higher Self, you feel supported and loved. Sometimes life can be a lonely journey, even with a partner and it’s nice to feel supported. Your journal listens, so pour your moods out and then appreciate something you felt.

9. Confirmation. These are the runs on the board. Which means that when you’ve experienced an event that has worked or unfolded beautifully, you journal it and this becomes your runs on the board. These are important because you know you’ve already accomplished what it takes. It’s both confirmation and congratulations.

10. Longevity. Connection through journaling will give you the encouragement you need to keep going. When we feel connected, we feel inspired. So you’re less likely to give up. Keep the lines of communication open by journaling and let the inspiration pour forth onto your pages.

Journaling Gives You the Opportunity to End Your Day On a High Note

When you journal before bed, it gives you the opportunity to clear the stresses of the day. Journaling simply clears your thoughts and dissolves problems. Any stress or angst can be written down. It allows you to let go and pave the way to a great new beginning. The intention for journaling is to feel good. So, even if you begin unhappy, you can end feeling great. It sets up your new day.

My 2 rules for journaling are:

  1. Forget the situation. Write about how you felt, your mood. Get it all out.
  2. Find something to appreciate to end on. If you can’t find something in your life that you love, then make something up and write as if. Your mind actually doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. Your moods will respond accordingly.

Journal Just Before You Sleep

The end of the day is an excellent time for journaling as it sets you up for a good sleep and clears your mind for the next morning. Then, if you pick up where you left off the night before, like most people do, appreciation is a pretty good mood to begin your day.

Don’t worry if you can’t get into the space of appreciation, just find the best mood you can and write your way to feeling better and better. Check out the Mood Map for guidance.

I’ve been journaling in the evening for close to 7 years. It has improved my quality of sleep and it also helps me to connect and redirect my moods so that I’m not living my life by default but choosing to design a life I love. I’m also amazed at what I write sometimes. It really is an inner connection that channels the very broadest of inspiration and knowledge.

Give it a go, you’ll be surprised.

The Power of a New Year’s Reflection

The Power of a New Year’s Reflection

It’s a little difficult to create New Year’s resolutions when you haven’t reflected on the year just gone. A New Year’s reflection is a powerful pattern to develop for the end of every year. It’s also imperative to the success of any New Year’s resolution.

Why Reflect on The Past?

It’s the past that is bulging with insights in the form of gems for moving forward. When we reflect on what has been, what we gained, where we fell short and what we loved, we are uncovering a plethora of nuggets which, when polished, will be used to shine a path towards the future.

Reflection is a part of moving forward. But not just the next step, the next step in a direction we want to go. Often we think we are moving in a direction we will love when we get there, only to find, years down the track that we indeed got a bit lost along the way. We aren’t where we want to be at all. I don’t want this to be you.

Using A Barometer To Guide Your Path

A New Year’s Reflection can act as a barometer to help us reassess and re-steer ourselves on the course we really want. The one which makes our heart sing.

This is an opportunity to press the reset button and make different decisions. Because when we slide from one year to the next, without taking time to assess the past, we can easily slide into more of the same. If that more of the same is joy and fun and wonderful abundance, then slide away. If it’s not, then some reflection can prevent the past from repeating itself.

Reflection not Regurgitation

This isn’t a time to blame ourselves for the things we’ve done wrong or that haven’t happened. Nor is it a time to regurgitate the past and why things didn’t go the way we wanted or whose fault it was. It isn’t a pity party. We want to reflect, not get stuck.

So there are 5 questions you can use to reflect on your year so that you can reassess and guide yourself on a new track for a brand new year.

  • What am I proud of in this last year? My successes and achievements.

  • What challenges did I overcome?

  • How did I grow?

  • What did I most appreciate during the past year?

  • What do I need to let go of and make peace with for this coming year?

Every Day Presses a Reset Button

Everyday begins anew. Each day we have the opportunity to begin again. We leave our emotions and moods behind every evening and the next morning we have a choice. Whether to pick up where we left off, or to choose something new.

New Year’s reflections are similar. Rather than the day before, it’s the year before. We get an opportunity to choose something new, or carry on right where we left off.

The magic of writing our reflections down is that we get to consolidate, right before our eyes and choose what we would prefer for the next year.

New Years Resolutions

Rather than a New Year’s Resolution, which seems to be a dirty word at the moment (mainly for those who don’t achieve them anyway), you have a written reflection. The New Year’s Day symbolizes letting go of the past and moving towards the future.

It’s not by chance. Joy, fun, love and abundance is never by chance but by design and a New Year’s Reflection is re-designing your future towards something truly wonderful.

Where Did the Fear Go?

Where Did the Fear Go?

The other day my car wouldn’t start. It just refused to start up. It’s one of those modern ones with no key. Fine when they are working, but when they aren’t, there’s not much you can do. I left it where it was in the car park and the next day, I went back to get it and it started immediately. I wasn’t surprised, as it had been doing this stop/start charade before Christmas when I had it towed the 50 miles to the car dealer to fix.

The uncertainty arises about whether the car is going to start, either now or in 2 hours time, or even tomorrow. My thoughts begin to change. What about the events on that weekend? How am I going to navigate those? Rather than feeling secure and supported, my thoughts move to scenarios of where I could be stranded and what I was going to do. If I should take the car somewhere and whether I should drive it at all, especially at night.

What is more interesting is how my body reacts. I can feel by head tighten from the thoughts that don’t serve me. My stomach knots and I need to run to the toilet. I try to relax and yet my mind feels heavy, a headache develops from stress and I can’t concentrate.

Take Back Control

Already momentum is taking control, so I use a mantra to gain control over my thoughts. I think of scenarios where I feel relief. “If I’m stranded it will only be for a couple of hours, then it will start again.” “I can always get a taxi if I need one.” “I won’t be driving late at night so it won’t matter if it doesn’t start then.” “When I pick my son up from work, I won’t turn the car off.” “I can call the car dealers next week when they’re open again.” “It will all work out.” “I’m not alone in this.” “After all, it’s only a car.” All of these thoughts help neutralise the self defeating spiral.

To do this, you begin changing your thoughts to those that are neutral ad give relief. Slowly keep directing them to those that are more positive. It helps you take your power back. You’re building a bridge from where you don’t want to be to where you do want to be.

fear dissipating

Often people become fearful of something they don’t have control over but instead of allaying the fear, they feed it. If you allay the worrying self-talk, a solution can appear, but if you don’t do anything about it, it will grow. Allowing fear to grow has consequences. These can be anxiety and paranoia. If you do this often, it makes sense that your health will suffer. When fear dominates your mind, then your body will display symptoms of those dominant thoughts.

Manifestation of Fear

For instance, the first manifestation will be your mood, the next will be how it feels in your body (headaches, gut churning, insomnia, neck, jaw etc). These are your indicators that fear is controlling you and you are not in control of the fear. It’s also an indicator of what is to come. If you don’t like these manifestations, then you aren’t going to like what momentum in the same direction brings. When you don’t do anything to control the fear thoughts early on, your indicators become stronger with the momentum you are creating.

Long term fear, or a pattern of worrying, will stress your body in different ways. It will be more than a headache or an upset stomach. You can’t internalise fear and not have it affect your body. It’s rather like adding curry powder to your casserole and then wondering why it tastes like curry. The flavor is changed by the addition of the spice, just as your body is changed by the addition of chronic thoughts of fear. You do not think apart from your body. It is all connected.

There will never be a time when we no longer fear something occasionally. But it doesn’t need to control you. When you practice taking your power back, by talking to yourself in a more and more positive way, you can use this method for whatever fear arises in your life. Whether it is a car not starting, or a family crisis. Use the mood map to guide your path to a better and better mood.

Establish a Solid Bridge

‘Fake it ’til you make it’ probably won’t work here as you can easily internalise that fear. That means it is still alive and multiplying. You really want it to be faint and ineffective. That’s what you’re going for. So establish a really solid bridge by practicing changing your thoughts to neutral and then better feeling and look for things to distract you in between. Ask yourself the question “What if this wasn’t happening, how would I feel then”?

In this way, ‘being in the grips of fear’ is temporary. You are the one who is in control and you really want to align yourself with a solution and not the problem.
