Whether you run, ride, swim or walk, spend time in nature or just enjoy life. Being happy has immense health benefits. These are for joy and a healthy longevity and go way beyond the vitamin pills.

Often we have success in achieving a happy mood with people around us that we don’t know very well. That’s because we haven’t invested any of our hard earned emotion in these people. These are the ones it’s best to practice being happy on. It’s the path to establishing a pattern of being happy.
It’s family that seem to push our buttons the most and that’s probably because they installed them. But even if you can’t find a tree to sit under or a country path to meander, you still have hope for family get togethers. The greatest tool known to man is yours free and it’s your imagination.
You Really Can Fool Your Mind
Did you know that your mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined? That’s why you can awake from a nightmare in a cold sweat with heart palpitations from fear. Your conscious imagination though, is the key to creating a happy reality. You can gain the same benefits from imagining as you can from physically being there. Whether you are enjoying the serene benefits of nature in your mind, it can be as good as actually being there in person. And your mind doesn’t know the difference. It will begin to create endorphins in response.
Maybe its just not possible to canoe the tropical waters of Fiji, or have a massage on the beach in Tahiti, but you can still imagine it. For instance, imagine feeling that warm breeze on your face and the smell of the salty ocean air. Hear the seagulls in the distant blue sky. In addition, you can imagine the warmth of the sun on your body and relax listening to the sound of the waves gently rolling in and out. Sure you need to use your words instead of your eyes, but often people don’t take in their surroundings with appreciation even when they are there.
Health Benefits of Imagining
There are upsides to imagining the beach and not actually being there. For instance, there are no mosquitoes, bugs or uncomfortable sunburn. It can be as warm or as cool as you like.
You can be on your own or with someone you love. Choose the scenario that makes you feel great. It helps the endorphins kick in, spreading ‘happy cells’ throughout your body. This means you don’t need to rely on anybody acting a certain way for you to feel good. You can do it yourself, no matter where you are or what’s happening around you.

Being Happy is a Great Lifestyle
Although you won’t be happy all the time, it’s really a lifestyle choice to be generally happy. It will take practice to develop a happy lifestyle pattern, but it is worth the effort.
You want to be happy because happy people have access to things that unhappy people don’t.
- abundance of opportunities
- loyal friends
- improved family relationships
- connection with Source
- appreciation of nature
- an easier life
- more happy circumstances
- jobs you love
- Being in the right place at the right time
- feeling supported
- great weather
- fun experiences
- great people to share it with
- reduced stress levels
- better health
- sense of general well being
- belief in themselves and others
The list goes on. These may not seem to be health benefits but they are. Your attitude determines the quality of your life and happiness is an attitude. When you are happy, life becomes easier. Things just work out. The more often you become happy, the more things work out for you and the more often you’ll believe they will. This cycle becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy which staves off illness and disease. If you do get sick, moving your mood to become happy once again will help you get better more quickly.
You don’t become healthy and then happy. You become happy and then healthy.
Being happy is your natural state of being. You were born to be happy.
If you’re not happy now, begin with small steps and look for things to be happy about. Set your intentions each morning to look for things to feel happy about.
